2010 Save Rate Report
The Michigan Pet Fund Alliance in 2010 took the annual shelter reports that each licensed shelter is required to submit to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development performed calculations within each report to determine the shelter’s performance in saving lives. This report builds on the report 1st created in 2009 by including a live release rate and improve rate from the previous year. Click for a copy of the 2010 Save Report.
Based upon the performance determined by the Save Rate report the following shelters were recognized with awards for 2010:
Outstanding Michigan Large (5,000+) Open Admission Shelter Humane Society of Huron Valley, Ann Arbor; 80.59 percent save rate
Outstanding Michigan Medium (1,000 – 5,000) Open Admission Shelter Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter, Negaunee; 87.65 percent save rate
Outstanding Michigan Small (less than 1,000) Open Admission Shelter Hope Animal Shelter, Ironwood; 100.63 percent save rate
Outstanding Michigan Limited Admission Shelter with greatest number of adoptions Humane Society of Livingston County, Howell; 91.87 percent save rate
Open Admission Shelter most improved from 2009 Oceana County Animal Control, Shelby; 79.45 percent save rate, a 44 percent increase over the shelter’s 2009 save rate
In 2010 Michigan Pet Fund also recognized the 8 shelters responsible for 50% of the cats and dogs euthanized in Michigan
