Best Practices for Home Based Rescue Organizations
Home based rescue organizations are not-for-profit groups that usually do not have a physical location and use homes (fosters) or boarding facilities to house homeless cats and dogs in their care until they are adopted. Unlike licensed shelters, these groups have no oversight. Michigan Pet Fund Alliance developed a Handbook for Best Practices for Home Based Rescue Organizations along with a program to certify these groups that follow best practices and commit to a code of ethics. Information on Best Practices and Certification are found here.
