Story: Oscar was starving and covered with large open wounds. His owner had passed away and it was several weeks before anyone noticed. The wounds were likely the result of a flea infestation. Oscar received treatment for his wounds and a proper diet to help him get back to a healthy weight. His teeth were in horrible condition and he required two dental cleanings due to the length of time he would have had to be under anesthesia.

Story: Ruth was pregnant had had kennel cough. Since being rescued she gave birth to 6 puppies in a quiet and loving foster home while receiving medications to keep her on track to becoming healthy.

Story: Sandy and her brother were hungry and got into a disagreement over another dog. They are learning better behaviors and receiving the training and consistent scheduling they need.

Story: The owner went to jail, and Suzette ended up at the shelter because no one wanted to take care of her. She was big as a house and pregnant. She has since delivered 11 puppies.

Outcome: Taking care of her babies.


Rescued: Tia, female cat

Rescued from: River Rouge Animal Shelter

Story: Tia was covered with fleas, had an upper respiratory infection and a severe eye infections. Her blood glucose and pressure were low as well as her body temperature. Shew as rushed to the emergency vet where she stayed for three days before going into foster care. Tia recovered beautifully but does have permanent damage to one eye.

Outcome: Adopted and thriving in her new home
