some reason I was brought into a local shelter and it was the most scariest place I have ever been so I just looked in the corner and shook. I couldn’ t even move but I wanted to leave so bad. I could hear the nice people at the
shelter talking to some nice rescue people about me and asked if they could see how I was when I was in a different environment. I kept my paws crossed so tight that they would give me a shot and they did!!! I got to sleep with my foster mom that night and in the morning I got to run around with other dogs and get cuddles from all the people that came to see me. I was a different dog!! Grant Amount Awarded: $100
Rescued from: Calhoun County Animal Center, INC
Story: Reagan was found as a stray that was shot with a gun. X-rays indicated that the bullet was still lodged in her spine and she would potentially need surgery. Expert surgeons were consulted and deemed it not medically necessary to remove the bullet from her spine or it may result in paralysis. However, she suffered side effects of not only lameness in her left hind leg but also incontinence (both bowel and bladder). We tried treating the bladder incontinence with medication (Proin) and also attempted to provide her with a high fiber diet to see if that would help her bowel incontinence. However, it wasn’t until she underwent acupuncture therapy that she began to show improvement. Reagan will need a very special home and family to help her with her challenges.
